DIGILARE Final Conference – Santiago de Compostela, 11–12 September 2025
The DIGILARE Final Conference takes place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Santiago de Compostela from 11–12 September 2025. This international event brings together leading academics, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss the future of information and consultation (I&C) rights in the context of digital transformation.
The conference opens with institutional greetings and a keynote address by Joaquín Pérez Rey, Secretary of State for Labour of the Government of Spain, who is going to reflect on the role of democracy at work. Over two days, participants are going to engage in thematic panels addressing EU legislation, the fragmentation of I&C rights, and the challenges posed by digitalisation, cross-border telework, and algorithmic management.
Experts from more than 15 European universities are going to contribute to discussions on legal frameworks, collective representation, and the impact of emerging technologies on workers’ rights. Topics include the digitalisation of workplace rights, trade union strategies in the platform economy, and the legal implications of AI in employment.
A roundtable with representatives from European trade unions and multinational companies is going to offer practical insights and foster dialogue between academia and stakeholders. The event concludes with a keynote by Judge María Lourdes Arastey Sahún of the European Court of Justice, who is going to address the jurisprudence surrounding I&C rights in the EU.
Together with the project’s academic partners, the coordinators prepared a high-level, interdisciplinary programme. The conference is co-funded by the European Union and organised in collaboration with institutions across Europe. The Galician Council of Industrial Relations is also going to support the event, as well as the scientific group “Red Administración y Empresa”, the first one in the ranking of Social Sciences in the University of Santiago de Compostela.
Conference materials and the DIGILARE policy paper are going to be made available on this website following the event.
